Nanino, Giovanni Maria

(1543 or 1544, Tivoli, Italy – 11 March 1607, Rome)
   With Giovanni da Palestrina, with whom he may have studied in the 1560s, he was the most influential musician in Rome of his time and taught Felice Anerio (c. 1560–1614), Gregorio Allegri (1582–1652), and others who maintained the tradition of classical polyphony into the 17th century.
